Our Story

The creators of Just-In-Case live in a small residential community in southern New Jersey where kids still ride their bikes to school and neighbors spend most of their free time with other neighbors. It's a close-knit community and word travels fast. 

how Just-In-Case was born

In the summer of 2014 we were spending time with some of our neighbors when we learned of a ‘hush-hush’ issue affecting one of their children. Their 10 year-old son, who happened to be the coolest kid in school, was struggling with occasional bedwetting during the night. Sure, this was an annoyance for them; having to change bed sheets at 4 am — but it was a far more serious problem for their son. He felt ashamed that he had accidents while at home and he was stricken with worry: how was he ever going to attend sleepovers, go to overnight camp, or even spend the weekend at grandma’s house without the fear of wetting the bed? For him this became a source of great stress and social anxiety, which led to him doing everything possible to avoid the activities many children his age enjoyed the most. 

from a vision to reality

Having worked with factories for years to produce a variety of incontinence products, this was a problem for which we knew we could create a solution. A product designed to alleviate the stress associated with occasional bedwetting would need to protect the bedding or sleeping bag that surrounded it from becoming wet or soiled. It would need to be soft, breathable, and comfortable for the user. Most importantly, it would need to be discreet and easy to use — so his peers couldn't tell it was there. After countless designs and more than a dozen prototypes, we developed what we are now proud to call Just-In-Case.

a real life-saver

Our intent was not to go to market with Just-In-Case, but simply to solve a problem that was consuming a fantastic 10 year old. However, after a few weeks of him using the prototype, what we learned changed everything. Our neighbors' son was actually excited to partake in overnight activities! His social anxiety and stress related to accidental bedwetting had vanished. He knew that if he did have an accident, he would be able to remedy the situation without his peers even being aware. “Game changer” and “life saver” are terms that our neighbors kept repeating. We were proud that we were able to help their son live life more fully — and decided to make Just-In-Case available to children everywhere who struggle with nighttime incontinence, or nocturnal enuresis.

Before long, our neighbors' son was using Just-In-Case in his own bed. He felt liberated and empowered because he was able to handle any situation that could arise in the event of an accident without the help of his parents, and without anyone having to change his bed sheets late at night. He simply removed his Just-In-Case, changed his pajamas, and got back into his clean and dry bed. The following day, Just-In-Case was easily laundered and good as new! By now, our neighbors' son has since outgrown this difficult phase in his life, but he continues to travel with a Just-In-Case tucked discreetly inside his sleeping bag...well, you know, just in case.
